Thanks, Joe and Ben.
I'll turn this one over to our system administrators. I am
sure they'll know what to do.

This instruction has been in arinstall script as long as I can remember.
They mean that you need to manually edit the script that automatically
start arsystem if the server restarts.
The startup file is probably in /etc/init.d/arsystem. A better
solution is to link /etc/init.d/arsystem to
Interesting that they didn't know right off the bat. I've always trusted

From the manual:
If you want to integrate BMC SLM with other ITSM applications, you must

Thank you! Unfortunately, this sets the Database ID number, which I have
tried and doesn't seem to work with the Advanced Change Field properties.
I appreciate the assistance!

I started my Remedy training back in 2000, v4.5. Now, 6+ years later, I
have just one more course for my RSP. My manager is reluctant to send me to
this final course. How do I sell him on the idea. What are the benefits to
the company. Just a few key bullets would help.
Thanks,

Well, I thought I would go to the list for a little support on this one. I
wanted to see if anyone had experienced this problem and/or solution before.

Hi guru folks,
I am working on configuring the email engine on version 7.xx - I have
question about Email Server Type? I would like to setup the outgoing with
IMAP or POP.
Do I need to setup sendmail process on the UNIX environment? If so does
anybody have a basic script for sendmail?
The
For outgoing mail you will need to configure Sendmail. Run a ps -elf |
grep -i sendmail. This will search the process table to see if sendmail
is running. If it is, you're good to go unless you need some
site-specific tweaks for your organization. You may also check out the

Hello
Its been a while since I looked through my ARS emails so maybe you've
had an answer to this by now.
But in case you haven't, maybe this might be an option for you. It
stops the user from entering more characters than the field can accept
(on mid-tier that is) and looks a bit similar
If there is an smtp gateway configured in your environment, you can
use that. Exchange, sendmail, etc.; it doesn't really matter what it
is. If there is not a public gateway, you can use something locally,
e.g., sendmail. Those are for outgoing messages. pop3 is a mail

Greetings List!
I have two questions regarding capture search information:

Jason, I just sent to your hotmail a/c a file with
info you may find useful. It's about common issues

I am writing this to make sure the email doesn't get

Yes, I know this will work theoretically, but my problem is, the forms
the menus pull from are both numerous and under configuration control.
Thus making the necessary modifications for this to work would be
painfully arduous. I was hoping there was a simple solution I wasn't

Listers,
On one of the custom forms, I have a date/time field with display type as

import a record(using import tool), the date/time field defaults to 1/1/1970

Does anyone out here use the Asset Management application ? I need to set it
up so when an item is ordered on a PO I can select whether it flows into an
asset record. It may seem fairly simple but I'm very new at this.

you don't use the one that fires the workflow in AM. I hope they offer
Deb,
Are you looking to have this report scheduled to run/email at a particular
time? If so I have found CrystalDesk to work. I used it on 5.1.2 and have
tested it on 7.0.1P1. The price was very reasonable. We don't have a
report server so it works well for us.
