If I remember correctly, the BNC networks cables are 50ohms, not 75ohms.
And the transporter wants 75ohms, I saw in one of the other threads.
This difference is enough to degrade signal quality, so a proper 75ohms
should be better.

Hi all,
I have used several amps and an interesting check is to bi amp some

Well, first, if you're using a low quality source like an MP3 then don't
even think about an expensive piece of kit like a Transporter!
So, consider instead playing back a lossless format such as FLAC - what
difference can the player make? Enormous!! The biggest difference will
be in the
Only in playback quality, specifically the D to A conversion accuracy. I
am currently using an external DAC (Musical Fidelity A3-24) to the SB3,
playing simple net radio MP3 128K streams, the results are still very
good.

Depends what you mean by network cable. Old ethernet cable and much
lab stuff is 50 ohm characteristic impedance. Patch cables used for
telco transmission links [1.5M, 2M, 34M, 45M etc] is 75 ohm.
The bnc connectors should match the cable impedance - normally the 75
ohm ones don't have
The outdoor speakers and environment may not allow you to hear the finer
details and resolution provided by the Transporter. In your case the SB3
is plenty good!

Thanks for that - I'm pretty certain it's 50ohm cable going by those
diagrams and descriptions.
I asked an electronics mate of mine and he said he didn't think it
would make much difference. He reckoned the most likely effect was
that it would lose signal strength (my words, not his) on account
Yes, quite correct, it is the 50 ohm type which has the fatter pin.I
well remember being told off by more experienced colleagues years ago
for putting 50 ohm leads on to oscilloscope inputs ( always 75 ohm )
compared with RF signal generators etc which were generally 50 ohm.
