BTW - last night I was looking around for the Audio playback feature in
r3173 and stumbled upon the "Turn Off" (SBC) menu item , which I'd
never used.
I decided to try Sleep to see what options it might have, but the unit
went straight into a power down. Just before the screen went blank

You're right it won't support playback (although I have made that work

Rebooting everything helped a little. I can at least play songs through
now...I also did some experimenting with more music and the popping is
from bass...anything I have with a big bass beat is really bad.
Hopefully this isn't a hardware problem with my controller.

Not me. WHen I first started up 7.3 and the SBC with headphones I had
some issues with noise and stuttering. I restarted SC a few times and
it seems to have stopped it. Runs pretty clean now.

Here's a minor cosmetic nit with 7.3 that might not be worthy of a bug
report:
When playing Internet Radio, the elapsed time appears in the bottom
left corner of the screen in black, rather than centered and in white

- The internal speaker doesn't mute when headphones are plugged in
- It syncs with an SB fairly well
- Pandora reports "invalid player"

On the 100% volume through the headphones issue, Alan notes that until
that is fixed, you can hack it in the interim:
'You can ssh in and use amixer: "amixer set Headphone,0 80%,80% unmpue
cap" is a good start.'

after a lng delay, we are now pushing 7.3 controller firmware out
to 7.3 Squeezecenter users. Your 7.3-based SC will pick up 7.3 r3131
within 12 hours. Alternatively, you can restart SC and it should
immediately pick it up.
There is a tantalizing option under Settings->Advanced->TEST
