There was a flock of over 120 Cedar Waxwings feeding in a Manitoba Maple at
110 Queen Mary St. at 11:15 this morning (31 March 2016). They stayed for
about 30 minutes before all taking off.

Just to let people know that the Varied Thrush was seen this morning (Sunday)
around 11h.45 by Joel Nordenstrom, myself, others. -17° light wind.
Directions: from the 417, in the East direction, exit at Limoges and go North,
turn right on Concession 3 (which will become Calypso), about
one kilometre where there is a gate
like barrier on the north side of the North Service Road. The bird is being
seen on the water to the north.

A probable 1st-year Forster's Tern was seen off Ottawa Beach, flying feeding
towards Dick Bell Park. Found by Paul Matthews observed by Roger Clark

the Champlain Bridge. Part way over the bridge look for an exit

north into Gatineau Park. Follow this road for
5.9 km. to the NCC Trail (#56) parking lot. The Black-backed Woodpecker was
found about 150 m. along the trail, foraging on both sides.
Along the Eardley-Masham Road were also seen 3 Northern Shrikes one 2nd-year
Bald Eagle.

There were two male Barrrow's Goldeneye on the Rideau River, just north of the
417 bridge, at 15h.00 this afternoon (7 Nov.).
Directions: take Vanier Parkway north turn left at Queen Mary Street. At
River Road continue straight across park.

Directions: exit from the 417 to the Vanier Parkway. Travel northwards as
far as McArthur. Turn left (west) off the Vanier Parkway go to River Road.
There is a parking lot just opposite. The bike path runs for several
kilometres south towards Billings Bridge.

As if to brighten a wintry January day, a male Red-winged Blackbird was at our
feeder in Overbrook (Queen Mary Street) today (9 January) at noon. Sunflower
black nijer seed was all that was on the menu.

Shrike, a few Killdeer, small flocks of Song Sparrows.

For the record, the female Harlequin Duck is still on the Rideau River at
Strathcona, along with the male Wood Duck that has been there for quite some
time. A flock of 15-20 American Robins was seen feeding along Range Road
(Shirleys Bay).
