Festival of Flight: The festival is over but good birding will likely
continue in the weeks ahead. The last day was dampened by heavy rains in
the morning but cleared in time for the afternoon hike. Good birds such as
Gold-winged, Blue-winged and Connecticut warblers were seen on South Point
Festival of Flight; Lots of birds in the park today. Best places were South
Point in the morning and Spicebush for the afternoon. Birders saw a total
of 124 species. Included in the 20 species of warblers seen were
Yellowrumps, Canada's and Blackpolls. The Prothonotary continues nest
building
Festival of Flight. Good selection of birds being seen in the park. Two
places of action are Spicebush and South Point Trails. Prothonotary is
pretty well a sure bet for anybody that spends time on the Tulip Trail.
Woodcock and Whippoorwills can be heard at dusk in the campground.
White-winged
Festival of Flight; After a busy morning things quieted down for the
afternoon. Cuckoos showing well on Bennet Rd. Prothonotary is displaying
nesting activity on Tulip Trail. Northern Mockingbird bird at the tip of
South Point Trail.
Rondeau's Festival of Flight has 2 guided bird hikes daily from
Festival of Flight; Good number and mix of birds in the park. Best numbers
being seen on South Point Trail. Canada and Mourning Warbler, several
Vireos species and some Gnatcatchers. Least Flycatchers common and many
other flycatchers observed as well. The Prothonotary continues on Tulip
Trail

including numerous Cape May and Blackpolls. The Prothonotary continues on
Tulip Trail. Scarlet Tanagers and Indigo Buntings are being seen throughout
the park. Both cuckoos continue to be seen on Bennet Rd. The most common

Festival of Flight; Quite a few less warblers seen in the park today.
Cuckoos were the star attraction on Bennet Rd with both Black and
Yellow-billed spending a lot of the day close up to the road. A Connecticut
Warbler found on Bowman Ave. just north of the camp ground was singing for
about an
Festival of Flight; Mourning Warblers are being heard numerous locations in
the park. An Acadian Flycatcher was observed on Bennett Rd. Good collection
of warblers seen on Bennet Rd plus both Yellow-billed and Black-billed
Cuckoos.

Festival of flight; After a slow start because of the rain warbler action
picked up late morning. Warblers were seen throughout the park including
Gold-winged and Canada. American and Least Bitterns can be heard on the
marsh trail. Whippoorwills were heard at the campground last night.

Festival of Flight; The heavy rain kept sightings in the park quiet. So
far just a few warblers being reported. Maybe once the rain passes things
will perk up. Prothonotary can be found in its usual place on Tulip Trail.

Festival of Flight; Wood warblers were the star attraction today and good
sightings lasted throughout the afternoon. Both Bennet Rd and Spicebush
Trail were great places to be dazzled. Bennet Rd is closed to vehicle
traffic and the park has benches spaced along the way so you can sit back
and rest
Festival of Flight; Lots of activity and song in the park today. Both
Yellow-rumped and Blackpoll warblers are being seen so that means
everything in between is possible as well. Spice-bush Trail and Bennet were
good this morning with both Cerulean and Hooded Warblers. Also on Spicebush

Festival of Flight; Some individuals clocked close to 100 species today
with the collective e-birders seeing 133 species. Some exciting birds were
found. The Kirkland's Warbler found by Josh Bouman in the campground was
relocated by Steve Charbonneau at Eire beach access 2. Many observers got

Yellow-breasted chat was found at the end of maintenance trail - follow the
footpath as far as you can go.
Clay coloured sparrow was seen at the north end of the campground and the
brush pile/ compost pile at the entrance to the Log Pond

1. The Prothonotary Warblers can be reliable seen on Tulip Trail and
were also seen on Bennet Road.
2. The White-winged Dove has found another chimney to court just up the
Festival of Flight; Lots of birds busy making nests in the park. Warblers
are thinly spread.

Orchard Orioles can be seen coming to feeders in the Campground.

Festival of Flight; The birds were harder to find today. 20 warblers
species in total being seen including Prothonotary and Cerulean. Orchard
Orioles can be found coming to feeders in the campground. Clay-colored
Sparrow seen in the picnic area. Tanagers being seen on the maintenance
loop.

While on the boat we saw one whimbrel on the beach across from Erieau. Also
Two adult sandhill cranes were feeding in the brushy area along the channel.

There is an avocet just outside of the park.
At the junction of Rose Beach Line and McKinley look towards the lake.
There is a natural gas pumping station with some heavy equipment and the
avocet has been standing at the waters edge for several hours.

morning around the visitor centre.

We saw one and have been hearing other field sparrows for a few days.
Also there is a pileated woodpecker being seen near the visitor centre for
two days.

We have 3+ evening grosbeaks coming to our platform feeder - first
seen Monday late afternoon and seen intermittently through this
morning
We also have 1 white winged crossbill coming to our niger feeder this
morning - also intermittently, but it stays a while when it is on the
feeder.
Directions
At approx 2 pm Anne and I saw a pelican over the south beach near Erieau.
It was traveling east and it wasn't white. It did not have black wing tips.
It was light brown with a distinct line on the underside of the wing.
Its head was darker, defenitely not white.
We suspect it was an immature
The yellow throated warbler turned into 2 yellow throated warblers today.
Blake Mann noticed 2 warblers at 17372 Lakeshore this morning.
Also there is a report of whippoorwills calling near Bennett and Lakeshore.

Chimney swifts were flying over the visitor centre today and a male
baltimore oriole was also seen.
The yellow throated warbler continues to be seen in the 1/2 kilometre

The yellow throated showed up at the cottage at 7.10
It was working over a feeder stand and ended up on a peanut feeder it
shared with a downey woodpecker.
This feeder is on the lake side of the cottage. Please stay on the path.

The bird was seen again this morning at the visitor centre and at
cottages north off the centre.

Few birds reported today but then there were few people in the park to find
them. There was a steady movement of migrants up the east edge of the park,
though overall numbers remained low. Migrants seen near the South Pt Trail
parking lot included Parula,
