Or Dakar. I mean racing through the desert in a delivery truck while
getting shot at? That's driving.

I'm talking about driving the track by him/herself - a brand new
driver could easily do that, and learn to do it in very little time
and do it at lap times consistent wi
I couldn't agree more.

I also spent too many hours at Portland International Raceway watching

I seriously doubt a 14 year old could drive at 200 MPH on a NASCAR track
with 42 other cars within an hour - at least withou killing himself or
someone else.
There is skill involved when racing any kind of vehicle on any configuration
or track.
There is more to NASCAR than go fast and turn left.

Exactly. And the turns are super banked so there's no skill needed
there either.
Seriously - a 14 year old who's never driven before could drive at
200mph on a NASCAR track within an ho

What you are decribing is known as 'bump drafting' and is somethign EVERY
driver does at the bug tracks (Daytona and Talledega).
Being a good ole boy from West 'By God' Virginia, I can't get into Formula
1..I jsut
I would tend to agree with you there.
WRC, Formula 1...etc.

Because besides cheering our favorite driver (#16 for me), this is one
of the other reasons that we watch NASCAR, and especially Talladega.
Talladega is famous for "the big one", a huge accident. Happens every
year. These guys are driving close to 200 MPH and are inches away from
each other,
I don't understand why all the celebration.
He pushed the guy causing him to crash, nearly killing him...and that's
cause for a celebration.
Wow.
