You are correct--brain fart from working too much too late. Early cars
have a 116 wheelbase, later is 112. Sorry.

The 67 wheelbase is 115 for all models, later wheelbases are 112 for

I can see your point,Andre, but an 8-71 blown BBC isn't going to get great

In the past, air ride was not known for good handling characteristics. Air
Ride Co. has changed all that now with some new stuff. Their new air ride
coilovers work very well in the handling department. I'm considering the
changeover for the improved ride quality and easier ride height
That is right but we were talking about doing fuel economy better, not

The cheapest way is for sure to get a numerically lower gear and that

Is there a difference between the firewall on a '68 with AC and one without?

Cutting and welding in a new firewall can be a major pain. If you just cut out the section you need, you will most likely warp the sheet metal when welding it which would cause you more problems that wou would want to deal with.

Keith,
How major is swapping the firewall. My Chevelle still has all the
remnants of its original AC. The box does take up room in the engine
dept, and prevented me from using some Tig welded tall Aluminum Hub Caps. The
brake booster got me on the other side. I have a bored 454.
I'm also not sure what was in the stock smugglers box. I saw a photo of the
inside of a '66 elky box on a web site, and it looked like there was a
verticle plate running across the box to help support the lid. My '66 elky
had a diamond plate bed welded in, including the box lid. Did the previous
