The cloudy finish on the aluminum is the anodizing coating. The anodizing
needs to be removed before the parts can be polished. If you want

Took apart my front brake caliper pads. There were 2 thin sheetmetal
shims between the pads caliper body on the outboard side also one
between the pad and anti-rattle clip on the inboard side.
What purpose do they serve?
