So, the story is I had a collapsed lifter as I suspected and also a
broken intake valve spring that I didn't know about.
I also want to address the issue of adjusting valves. It was said here
that "turn until it stops tapping + 1/4 turn" was an old rule for
solid lifters. It was pointed out
Luckily it's not like I keep adjusting it and it keeps getting worse.
It's more like I developed a tap and now I can't adjust it properly.

worn, you adjust lifter the cam wears down more you adjust lifter. See the
cycle. You need a dial gauge to check the lift before installing new

The last year for the 283 was 1967, all small block flat lifters are
interchangeable, if you are just looking for a stock hydraulic lifter any
283, 327 lifter will be the same. The 58 specs you looked up must be for a
solid lifter, not hydraulic, as the old 1/4 turn past 0 lash was always the

side are the mfg. number and date, the top of the frame rail will have the
partial VIN. However, the partial VIN is of no use in determining whether

Do you mean the air vents that go in the panels by your feet? If so, as long
as they operate by the cable to open and close and fit in the opening and go
in with the three screws, you should be fine. You won't see the middle when

Thats close to what I did. I googled headlight adjustment and found a
pretty simple procedure. In general back the car a set distance back from
door, and adjust to a certain height & spread. Don't have the exact info

We think alike when it comes to the MOPAR Super Stockers. The one had

I only spent Saturday there but saw a lot of the things you did.
LS-type motors are showing up more and more in just about everything - saw a
lot of 55/56 Chevys with them.
I loved the 41 Willys Americar, there was a pickup that while wasn't as
original, it wasn't 'gassed' either.

Not available unless you find a good used one or repair it. If you have a
sheet metal brake and some 16 gauge steel, you can repair it pretty easily.

replaced seals in it only to have it still leak. Checked Advance online and
