I can't explain the 2523, but try the 2520, 2521, & 2522. The 2514 is very
expensive due to it's abililty to fuction as a dual Ethernet firewall via

The Ethernet version of the 2523 is the 2522. It has all the same specs, but

Hello,
When I get my 2523 can I use it as a terminal server. I was told I can.
If so what is the name of the cable that I will need to connect up to the
other routers and switches, is it called an octopus cable? Your help would
be much appreciated.

Depends on how much you will have to pay for replacement Flash. Also where
will you obtain an IOS image? 2523's are going on eBay for $800-900 with 16
MB Flash and 8-16 MB DRAM.
A recent auction on eBay sold compatible 8 MB Flash for the 2500s at $60
each.

Gang - Is USD.590 for above router without flash is worth buying?

Hi,
For 3months I have been trynig to have my AGS+(DTE) talk to my 2523(DCE).
I am at my fourth back-to-back cable.
The 2523 is sending keepalives but the AGS+ is not.
AGS+ is DTE BY DEFAULT, so I didn't tinker with its jumpers.
Have someone ever made an AGS+(DTE) talk to a 25xx(DCE)?

The config reg setting of 0x3920 is the Console port set to 115200,8,N,1.
You can either set your Hyperterm to the previously mentioned settings or
telnet in and force the speed of the "line con 0" to 9600.

HI guys,
I have a problem having my AGS+ (DB26 DTE) talk to my 2523 (DB60 DCE).
I purchased a custome cable and tried to have it work in vain.
THe configs are as follow
Router_2523 is DCE (provides clocking at 56000)
Router_AGS+#sh int s3
Serial3 is up, line protocol is down
