I have a strange problem or serious problem.
I configured a Cisco 1605R router which was configured before. This time, I
only changed E0 and E1 ip address, and default route through the console.
After that, I put it into the server room, booted it up, but I couldn't ping
the interfaces. I thou
Be sure the setting of your computer is correct, say my setting for com 1 is
"8, N, 1, flow control: XOn/Xoff " , the baud rate should be 9600. I don't
think that the console port is so easy to be faulty. I think the problem is
mainly due to your setting.

""Widjaja Surja Kentjana"" Hi
After seeing this thread I remembered having two 2500's in the lab I
couldn't talk to but could see data from it. I went back and diabled
flowcontrol, teraterm, and it worked fine!!

For some reason some old 2503s seem to have this problem. I have run into
it myself. Make sure you have your terminal settings set correctly (check
the baud rate, stop bits, and flow control). If that doesn't work, try
using a different computer (I seem to have the best luck using an NT
machine
Hi all,
Have just got a Cisco 2503. I am not able to console, I believe it is
faulty. I need to clear the password. Tried to use AUX, but AUX is only
available when the IOS is loaded.
Any other way out or workaround it?
Thanks.

I will assume that your changed config register bypassed your
startup config? If so, take a look at
u should be good to go.. On setting the

enter a break sequence ... change the register settings and then you can
look at your config from there

Rudi,
Is your hyperterminal set to 9600 baud? The serial port from your pc to the
router is it the same that one that hyperterminal think it is? When you say
they don't accept any input do you mean you hit carriage return and the
router doesn't respond? Verify the above and let us know, don't wor
You should check the port configuration in Hyperterminal and make shure that
Flow Control is set to None.

My apologies for those who have seen this a few
times... I haven't had much luck getting it posted so though I'd try it one last
time. No more after this. Promise.
