Ray, I replaced the original framed portlights on my 1976 C&C 38 with Lewmar opening portlights. It was actually a fairly easy job although I did have to enlarge the openings slightly. I used a jigsaw and a “glasfab” blade. I really like having to ability to open the ports when I’m anchored out!

On my 34, there is a rubber stop on top of the quadrant, on centerline.  It has hard stops on a laminated rib to either side on the bottom of the cockpit.   There is no adjusting, it's an Edson system. I am at about 300 degrees of movement on the wheel from center to hard over. -Chris On Mon

Sounds like how my masthead unit slowly died. It became intermittent. Brought it down and it tested fine. Put it back up and it acted up again after a short while. It was just too old. Failure of the wire is possible, but I think less likely. The wire in my mast is inside a narrow conduit. Not

First, I would completely discount trying to match the existing hole pattern. It's not difficult to fill and re-drill. To shed some light on your current winch situation, you need to know how the 28's compare to today's winches. Barlow and Barient designated their winches in terms of 100 lbs. S

If the autopilot ram is doing double duty as a rudder stop, that is bad. You need to re'locate the rudder stop further inboard on the quadrant to limit travel and then re-set the throw on the AP. Most autopilot Rams will mount roughly 8" from center on your rudder post. Chuck Gilchrest S/V Ha
