Jim Merritt and I just had an immature Golden-crowned Sparrow at his feeders
about five minutes ago (10:15) today 10/30. One many of us predicted would be
the next sparrow to show up at his setup. He is happy hosting birders and is
located at 222 Crystal Valley Road.

Good Morning,
Threw some seed out early this morning about 6:30 A.M. The Golden-
crowned Sparrow showed up right away. I did not stay to see if the
Rosy-Finches showed up.

After shoveling my drive this morning, I went to Red Rocks where I
ran into Art Hudak. Together we observed the Golden-crowned Sparrow
make 2 quick visits within an hour. No Rosy-Finches, but I would
expect them to show up tomorrow morning if not later today. Bring

Good Morning All,
The Golden-crowned Sparrow first appeared a little after 8 this
morning below the platform feeder. He spent the next 10-15 minutes
alternating between feeding under the platform feeder and retreating
in to the shrubs.
Other highlights of the morning at the feeders incl
The Golden-crowned Sparrow showed up 7:22 A.M. on the flat rock just
to the left of the upper apple tree. As is often the case, the 1st
year White-crowned made an appearance followed shortly thereafter by
the adult Golden-crowned Sparrow. Seems like the two often appear at
the feeder toge
The Golden-crowned Sparrow showed up under the lower apple tree about
7:27 A.M. this morning. If you are planning on visiting the feeders
at Red Rocks this weekend, plan on bringing some seed with you. I
will be unable to visit the feeders this weekend.

Hi All,
Threw some seed out early this morning at the feeders at the Red Rocks
Trading Post. The Golden-crowned Sparrow was seen early in the
morning on the flat rock under the upper apple tree and later in the
morning under the platform feeder. Lots of birds with the snow and
cold. H
The Golden-crowned Sparrow was very cooperative this morning for the
DFO Field Trip appearing several times. Our group also was able to
see the Prairie Falcon harass a Red-tailed Hawk perched on top of one
of the large rock formations (Ship Rock). Later on the group had good
looks at the

a first appearance around 7:35 A.M. Also saw the Prairie Falcon near
the Cave Rock/Frog Rock area on my way out of the park.

In keeping with my own request of a couple days ago, I am reporting
spotting this shy bird today. It was in the bushes just on the other
side of the fence on the south side of the parking lot. It never went
under the cedars. It was staying with a smaller sparrow that I could
not id, perhaps the juv
Just got back into town so threw some seed out at the feeders behind
the Red Rocks Trading Post early AM. Didn't see the Golden-crowned
Sparrow early, but bumped into Dan Brook & Cheryl Teuton at the Red
Rocks feeders later in the morning - we observed the Golden-crowned
Sparrow about 11:

Besides the adult Golden-crowned Sparrow, I was able to pick out a
White-winged Junco. With the snow, I was hoping the Rosy-Finches
would show, but did not see any yesterday afternoon or this morning.
