I think my problem about no sound as non-root is related to this one. I said that it works the second time I book, but i just discovered some things : right after boot, i can use sound as non-root, but if i wait a undefined time, sound become inaccessible ("permission refusée" - access denied?). I

I cant get ANY sound to come out of anything. I have a SBAWE64. I've already run sndconfig under beta 4. Gaim was making noise, but i turned those off. I cant get realplayer 7 to talk, and cd player and grip both said that something was using the sound device.

Yep, the paths have changed. The latest sndconfig will detect for both paths i.e. if(!exist(path1) || !exist(path2)) return 1; else return 0; - nice try but no joy downloaded the cooker copy of soundconfig 055.3mdk and it still does not work

I have a common sound card (a soundblaster 16 pnp) but it seems that Harddrake is unable to correctly configure this card. Now one of my questions is if Harddrake deps on ALSA why doesn't Harddrake use ALSA when the insmod for sb.o fails (next test is to remove that whole directory). Now i don't

I put in an ethernet card today. (detected and configured by HardDrake :) ) While I had the box open I took out that modem I never used (it was a WinModem as it turns out, big surprise). Then I removed ALSA and ran HardDrake, this time it correctly configured the card. So it was the $^&@ up WinMod
