after your help chris (update-menu and ksycoca ) it's workk great thanks a

kmail is more stable konqueror works better but the java bug and some
javascript support wasn't resolved yet .
but it's a lot better.

I've d/l all rpms and I use rpm -Uvh --test *.rpm to test. No error message. However
during actual installation, rpms prints ~20 lines of message, "package catalog not
listed in file index."
Is it because I am -Upgrading some rpms that are not installed (no previous version to

er... although it's better than what the KDE people suggest, that doesn't
work so good. when you try to upgrade rpm and menu, there are more
dependencies that you have to deal with, glibc, libc.so.6, and getting rid
of rpm-python and rpm-devel. Unfortunately, if you've already removed qt2

only way I got around it was to reinstall mandrake, (Delete the
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts directory first)

copy the afore mentioned folder into your home dir, then install
KDE2.

I've just installed 708 on my Mandrake 7.1 box. I thought XKill wasn't
working, but then I noticed that kdesu was running in the taskbar area
(shame they've killed off tasbar). Shortly after that, the cursor changed
to the killer - so it does work if you'e patient.

I'm the packager for the KDE2 stuff
Can you please try something and then please let me know what error
messages you get
1. Go into a shell and to your ~/ directory. move .kde to .kde.old.
2. Did you install kde2and1scripts ? This currently requires a force.

I made the mistake of installing a KDE2 from Mandrake, followed by one from KDE
followed by one from Mandrake. From then on, and I installed the last ones last
night, every time I try to launch konqueror it simply crashes ! As a result I
cannot see what everyone else is raving about ! The only hin
