I must say, I've been a customer since 2001 and one thing I always
noticed about Slim Devices was how incredible their customer service
is. My experience is that they really go above and beyond. If you call

faulty SB3 about a year ago, which was immediately replaced without any
delay or cost to me), which is impressive given that I am in a different
hemisphere!

It's an important point. I have mentioned it lots of times but Logitech
have still not got the point. The Yamaha CDRH1500 does not have it,
apple tv does not have it, and it makes absolutely no sense at all
anyway. I know Logitech love covering their keyboards with buttons no

You mean presets you can select with a single press of a button? Use the
Favorites. That's what they're doing.

and disable the volume control for good. But 99% of the users are not
going to do that and are going to find they have to play with the
volume on thier amp and on thier squeezebox to try and get the level

I followed the link, but I don't see how it applies to the SB volume
control. If I use analog out and use the squeezebox remote to turn the
volume down, how is that different to using the volume on the amp?
Since it's in the analog stage, talking about bits being lost wouldn't

At the current exchange rate you can buy them in the US for 1300 EUR
while Logitech sells them in Europe for close to 2000 EUR.

earlier was happy when ss 6.5.4 worked fine. Not content with using old
software I named my squeezebox (squeezey if you must know!) and

This has been covered in numerous threads in the past.
Basically it comes down to several factors:
1. Incresed taxes in the EU compaired to the US
2. Increase in the cost of doing business in the EU, meaning the markup
has to be higher
3. They can charge more so they do. Simple business sense.
WMA doesn't support stream metadata, at least not a standard way of
doing it.
