I run Slim Server on a Windows XP machine that sits downstairs - I
built the thing in 2003. It's based on an AMD Ahtlon XP 2400+ CPU,
2gig RAM, and tons of hard drive space. Sure, it's old, but it seem to
work just fine.
I'm thinking about picking up an Apple TV to serve up TV shows, etc.
Doesn't look like anything has been added (i.e. still missing
categories) - it may be BBC officially document the XML and stating
that logos, graphics etc cannotbe used without permission.

1. Having Logitech support "RealAudio" for the BBC as core will not
stop dropouts. If you are in the UK use the WMA streams for live
stream. You should not be getting dropouts on "Listen Again" unless
there is a fault in program recording.
2. The XML interface will make menu
You should be able to bookmark by 'brand' e.g. archers with the xml
addon. This will find only those programmes with the same brand/title
from within a certain station's list. For instance you can bookmark
'Chris Moyles' and always get a list of the last week's programmes of
that name in favorit

Except for July - AlienBBC has not really been a high maintenance
plugin.
The introduction of iPlayer in July has resulted in 5 updates because
there was demand to keep "Listen again" working. It had been hoped
that BBC would have kept old "Listen Again" menu up to date in parallel
with iPlayer

well, if powerline doesn't do it for you, maybe get a linksys WRT54GL,
install tomato on it, and put it into "remote access point" mode. Run
cat5 from linksys to squeezebox. Put the antennas in a shed window and
you should be good to go. (note - this is with the linksys in the
shed)

cringe to think of kids with $300 SB controllers that could easily be
ruined if dropped or stepped on, as apposed to remotes that can stand
being dropped and stepped on and can be replaced for ~$25 if they do
get damaged.
