Well, it seems that I spoke too soon. One of the SBRs started stuttering
a fair bit and I checked the wireless signal strength and it was below
30 despite the fact that the router #2 was only a couple of metres
away. With my double router, single subnet setup I was not sure how to
easily
Somehow I need to get the SBRs to connect to router #2
Set different SSIDS on the access points and change the encryption keys
or
Implement MAC filtering on the access points
So, downstairs I have a second wireless router (#2)
You might be better with a dedicated wi-fi access point.

@amcluesent: thanks for the suggestions. I'll, but I am now back to
suspecting that the SBC only sets the SBR up with the details of the
wireless network that the SBC is connected to at the time. Certainly,
once the SBRs were dropped of network #1 they did not gracefully fall
back to network #2.

to reiterate: when i first connected i got no pin - the pin was
conspicuous in its absence - it was not there
the device appeared to work ok but obviously if i have content
Press and hold left arrow on remote until SB3 enters firmware menu. You
will be presented with connect to .. options.

and the iPeng native application. And I must say - this is exactly what

Not sure if the optical port on the A/V receiver is the problem or the
SB2 but I moved to the analog ports and there are no problems with the
pausing. Still no luck with DHCP though.

So, when there's no artwork the UI goes unresponsive. Pauses for 10-15
seconds on pretty much all UI interactions.
It feels like co-operative multi-tasking where one of the threads is
blocking for 10-15 seconds on a time-out before releasing.

Yep. Under Settings-Information-Player Information you have that.
As I said, you need to use the menus to have Boom connect to the
SqueezeNetwork, then navigate to Settings-Player PIN.

unpacked my SB2 and reset it so it could connect to the network. It
needed a firmware update, which I installed, and I installed SC.
SN was initially unable to see the SB, but I plugged in the SB2's PIN

brilliant!!
But I do have a small niggle: There is a lot background hiss and
crackle. Presumambly it is coming from the CPU and/or the wifi
transmission. To be fair, it is an awfully small box with a lot of
things going on inside.

The SB can only connect to an AP, it can't act as one.

sense.
I have turned off DHCP and the squeezebox is working ... but not
obviously as a bridge. The device I'm bridging to will only do DHCP, so
