No, it has to be connected to the network (i.e. associated) but it
doesn't need to be connected to SN or SC (or actually even have a valid

imho, static IPs are much better when it comes to slim stuff.
why they make it so hard to use them if you want to, only they can
answer. but in my exp, static IPs work better with my SB2.

I have no problem getting the controller to connect to the strong access
point (using, as you say, Settings > Advanced > Wireless Networks). The
problem is getting the receivers to connect to the strong network. That
process, even after factory resets of controller and receiver
consistently fails

crackle. Presumambly it is coming from the CPU and/or the wifi
transmission. To be fair, it is an awfully small box with a lot of
things going on inside.

It's easy to validate strictly, it's harder to be tolerant of small
errors (because you have to find the errors and figure out whether
they're small!). Not much help I know, but not being familiar with the
SC/SN RSS parsing code it's the best I can say :)

Yep. Under Settings->Information->Player Information you have that.
As I said, you need to use the menus to have Boom connect to the
SqueezeNetwork, then navigate to Settings->Player PIN.

So, when there's no artwork the UI goes unresponsive. Pauses for 10-15
seconds on pretty much all UI interactions.
It feels like co-operative multi-tasking where one of the threads is
blocking for 10-15 seconds on a time-out before releasing.

Not sure if the optical port on the A/V receiver is the problem or the
SB2 but I moved to the analog ports and there are no problems with the
pausing. Still no luck with DHCP though.

and the iPeng native application. And I must say - this is exactly what

suspecting that the SBC only sets the SBR up with the details of the
wireless network that the SBC is connected to at the time. Certainly,
once the SBRs were dropped of network #1 they did not gracefully fall

Well, it seems that I spoke too soon. One of the SBRs started stuttering
a fair bit and I checked the wireless signal strength and it was below
30 despite the fact that the router #2 was only a couple of metres
