ARTISTSORT is tied to ARTIST. It says, for this artist, sort them as
this... it applies to the ARTIST, not the TRACK.

What player? If you have a SB type remote (ie, with a numeric keypad)
and an SB2/Classic/3/Transporter/Boom (ie, nonduet), unplug the player
and hold the 1 button down on the remote as it powers up.
You should see a brief message about resetting the Xilinx.

More information about Microsoft DRM is available on their website.
In short, you need to use Windows Media Player to play them.

the ethernet connection is odd: have you tried swapping the
two receivers? It could be either a bad ethernet card or bad wiring..
if it follows the cable, then its a wiring issue.

Easiest way is to just bandwidth limit your work player. This will
force it to transcode everything to mp3.
Undo your changes on the other players.
Slightly more complex: if you look in convert.conf, you can apply rules
to any player.

If you are using Browse Music Folder, the order is alphabetical.
Make your file names: 1-01 title for disc 1, track 1.
If you are using Browse Albums (or New Music etc) then the order is by
disc and then track.
Have you set disc numbers?

It is easy for me to believe because the proper place to do that is in
the scanner when the db is built (specifically in MP3.pm).
That section of code is used only for display, and well after the DB
has been loaded.
