Good Evening,
And a very late one indeed! I just got in and need to get to bed so
this shall be brief.
I tried finding the foxes on Thursday evening and worked the entire 90
minutes to no avail. Not even a hound was heard. I did read about folks
in Washington and Oregon working
Hallo,
In slightly less than a week the IARU Region I Field Day takes place:
01. Sept. 07, 13:00 UTC - 02. Sept. 07, 12:59 UTC
If you hear portable stations from our part of the world please give us
a call. As always our club will be in the portable, multi operator, low
power,
There is a well-written article in NCJ this month on the K3.
Lauded by a number of well-known contesters and the like.

JT,
The chokes you have will work. The color of the body makes no difference to
the actual value.
Elecraft had to change the type of choke after printing the manual because of
choke failures during installation.
Be careful when installing your chokes as bending the leads too close to the
Walt and all,
Just one clarification (for the protection of your KAT100 and K2).
The KAT100 does not talk with any RS-232 signals. It does connect to
the K2 AUX I/O connector, but that is not rs-232 either - there are only
3 RS-232 signal lines (RXD, TXD and signal ground) in the AUX I/O
Paul,
You may find some information in the archives that could possibly help
your situation. Jack Smith K8ZOA has documented a good amount of info
on the AGC operation on his website and Dave White VE6DRW has created a
mod to give more control over the various AGC characteristics.

I repaired an RS-20A recently. The balancing resistors from the pass
transistors had burned up because someone put a 15 amp fuse on the primary side
with a load more that 16 to 20 amp on the 13.8 volt side.
Not ever done this before, I made sure the 723 was set at 13.8
KAT2 rev D manual, page 12.
Step says
Secure the L-C board to the Control board standoffs using two 4-40 screws and
two #4 split lock washers. These lock washers go between the standoffs and the
PC board, not between the PC board and screws as on the control board.

However, page 6
Andrew,
There must be a lockwasher at one end of the standoff - it is an overall
length thing, so it really does not matter which end of the standoff the
lockwasher is placed. Do what seems right - yes, the manual says it
both ways, and that is confusing. It is easier to put the lockwasher

Was the rise to 15.5 with or without a load? How much load were you using?

I adjusted the regulator without a load to about 13.80 volts. Over the last 24
hour it rose to 15.5 volts or so. It seem to regulate. I ran my two meter SSB
rig and a 100 Watt amp (15+ amp ICAS) last night without issue. I figure the
regulation percentages at around 2%...but this morning
Many Thanks to everybody that responded, both via the Reflector and
privately.
To summarise, it seems the most straightforward and economical way of
achieving my requirement is to purchase the KXV3 transverter i/f, (or
optionally, but more expensive, the KAT3 ATU).
Altho' I have no need for
Speaking of antenna tuners Is there any possiblity that the new
K3 antenna tuner can be put in a seperate box and be remotely
controlled? I use a 102' dipole, fed with balanced feedline, which then
goes into a back room in the basement. There, it hits a 4:1 balun, and
then it sees an
Hi everyone. Is there a quick means of resetting the KDSP2 back to its factory
default settings?
I've been playing and have created something akin to a Gordian knot and wish to
go back and start again. If the answer is in the manual, I'll be darned if I
can see it.
Thanks in advance and 73
David,
If there is a way to reset the KDSP2 to default, I do not know about
it. The manual does contain a chart of the default settings, so you can
walk through the menu restoring the defaults as you go.

No, you must re-enter the settings. There are tables of the settings in
the manual.

This is still a mystery, but I cannot set the voltage any lower than 14.5
volts. That is where the voltage adjust goes to minimum and can't go any lower.
No fried components I can see. The TIP29 has been replaced at one time, but
that is just driving the pass transistors.

One of those AH-HA moments. I noticed the battery indicator had appeared on my
Digital Multi Meterlow battery. Think that would make a different
measuring voltages? Even this Liberal Arts Major understands that. Replaced
the battery and the PS could be set at 13.80 volts. Low batt
It seems that you are not getting the required voltage to the pass
transistors to cause them to adjust enough. i.e. Too much drive voltage
coming from the regulator.
This means the control voltage from the regulator is still too high.
That is where I would look.

Lee,
The pass transistors *could* be to blame, but check all the connections
both inside and outside the power supply before drawing a conclusion
that the pass transistors are at fault. At 15 amps it only takes 0.1
ohm resistance to drop 1.5 volts. It is a good idea to re-tighten all

For sale: KFL1-2 + K1B30
K1 2-band filter board for 80 and 20 meters, plus 30m parts.
K1 #139 started out as a 30/20 transceiver, but became 40/30/20/15 when

Anybody get this? Thanks, John KF7OM

Good Evening,
Yeowch! By the end of the 40 meter net my head was starting to hurt.
I just spent a few minutes on the deck listening to the trees and watching
it get dark. I reported S7 noise which is very unusual considering those
storms are very far to my east. Hopefully I heard you
