The times you would need a heatsink is when running PSK31, RTTY, AM and FM.
These are all continuous duty and make the KX3 produce heat faster than it can
be dissipated. I tend to rag chew on PSK31 so I added the large heat sink by

of the Elecraft P3. The problem is from larger static voltages that could
destroy the solid state devices in the P3 but with the two diodes back to back

bands have been bad at my QTH for a long time yet every time I go
camping they are good. The first thing the P3 showed me was a higher

scores of the people I worked for the first two hours. I now have the

I got into the wrong log the other day and thought I did it with the
IC-753 PRO which I in fact did in 2008.

in 2009 and only 1 page in 2008.

I use the 200 hz filter on RTTY all the time including
the ARRL RTTY Round UP.
I set up my 200 hz filter as a 300 hz filter in t
the earlier talk about the K3 S meter got me to thinking about a problem
I wanted to address.
I wanted to use the S meter to track small changes in level. My IC-746
PRO has twice the segments of my K3 but that was not enough either. The
K3 S meter is great on the air as I never give anyone a 5
I used a 5 volt regulator on my MFJ 4225 to slow down the fan. This allows
the fan to start reliably at any voltage. I have run mine and my K2-100 this
way for at least 5 years with no problem on SSB, CW and DIGITAL.

Last week end my XYL was gone and I got to spend some quality time with

I went out to Best Buy with my birthday gift certificate looking for a
headset.
Most of their headsets needed to plug into a USB port on a computer so I
had to
