Having helped to install dozens of amplifiers for remoting, I can say
that this feature set would put a new 1500w amplifier on the top of the
remote station heap if reasonably priced.

Fred,
Go into the RRC's web menus and click on "keyer settings", then go to
"side tone" and adjust the db down to an acceptable level.

Note that the default RemoteRig setting in the control RRC gives a loud
CW sidetone. This can be easily lowered by going into the keyer settings
and change "side tone -db" to another number.

Jorge,
Your answer is that they last just long enough to die on the first day
of a major contest in October. Don't ask me how I know that ;-)
Take Tom's advice and keep extra batteries on hand at all times.

Hi Johnny,
I have had a lot of problems over the years trying to order things from
U.S. based stores using a foreign credit card. Most internet shops there
seem to think we are all some kind of criminal if we live outside of the
United States ;-)
One exception I have found is B&H. They have no

The product has been officially announced:
http://www.remoterig.com/wp/?page_id=995
Pricing is not yet available. I understand that a cable set will be
available separately.

Unfortunately, APP is not widely used in Europe, and can be expensive and
hard to find. I have always brought mine over from Dayton trips, etc.
If Chris does indeed need to replace his connector, he can e-mail me
directly, and I will drop him a pair in the local mail.

I find that the NTP client built into Windows often does not work, plus
updating only once a week is not enough on some computers (some computer
clocks have accuracy that rival those in older cars, or the K3).
Therefore, I have been using a small program called "Dimension4" for a
number of year

Checking product information I can see it is advertised as a 1000W PEP
amplifier. What happens with IMD at over 1300W?

The thing that makes the KPA-1500 most attractive from my perspective, and
surely others, is it's supposed SO2R ability. What other amps on the
market offer similar capability other than the SPE Expert 1K-FA (which is
only 1kW)? A KPA-1500 is domestic, so eliminates the extra steps
that responded!

I have the main receiver's AF Gain set to HI, but I can't find a way to
enable that function on the KRX3. Am I missing something, or is this a

With the main receiver on HI, the difference between the two receivers is
too great to be able to hear very well on the KRX3, at least
In that case, it would be better for them to rename these "pre-release" or
similar, instead of beta.
I worked for Microsoft for several years, and now have a complete aversion
to the term "beta", so I will never load something using that term for
production use. I assume I am not the only one

Did you remember to click on and install the FPF upload? It was not checked

I am currently travelling in the U.S., and will be taking my long-awaited K3

I had it shipped to an old friend in Jupiter, FL, where I plan to assemble
it at his house when I arrive there next week. The exact assembly dates will
be the 5th and 6th, before heading to the
