The initial product does not have an internal antenna tuner. However, the
design team has a goal of supporting a wide range of SWR. The final spec is

Hi Jorge - The PTT should not have anything to do
with where your mic is connected. If you get an
ERR PTT that means that when the radio is turned
on, the PTT has been applied. There are at least
five ways to engage the PTT as far as I recall:

and a K144XV. The is no way to operate both the Main and Sub RX on
2M at the same time. You could put an FM filter in both the Main
and Sub RX so you can use the K144XV through either one, not both at

What I am going to try first is to make a space for it by reducing the
size of my logging program window. There may be a way in our Windows
program(XP in my case) to make it stay on top but like you I don't know
how to do this. Hopefully someone on here can help us with that.

Making the window on top optional would be the best of both worlds. I
have some very important reasons why I want to be able to
see the W2 window all the time.
Let me provide a little back ground here which I am sure will apply to a
number of you. First of all can you see your amplifier
and AGC controls are not setup correctly. W4ZV

properly adjust the K3, or any radio for that matter. I would love to hear
one of these noisy K3 receivers and see how they are configured.

No macro is needed for single functions like this that already have a menu
entry. Just go into the menu and find SPKR + PH, then tap or hold the
programmable function button of your choice (PF1, PF2 or the memory
buttons). Each time you tap the button, the speakers toggles on/off.

I don't think that this is normal. It depends upon the voltage drop
on cable between the radio and power supply, as well as any voltage
drop inside of the radio. I actually was measuring this
yesterday. My supply reads between 13.7 and 13.8 on the K3 meter

Although a good addition for safety and I certainly appreciate the
addition, it still doesn't prevent the computer reboot and key the
radio problem. This could happen quite often at a FD if the
computers are not running on UPSs. Therefore, as you say, there is

All of a sudden this morning, I started getting an error message on
my K3, ERR 12V. Then it scrolled Check Circuit Breaker, which I
assume was the PA circuit breaker. The radio would not transmit
until power cycled and the power level was reset to below 12W. I am
not convinced that it is a

improvements continually? I'm kinda glad everything isn't already done
because the K3 just keeps getting better. While we're looking forward to
the new stuff, it is really impressive to look backward at all that has been
accomplished the past two years.

Hi Tony,
I use the sound card for AFSK and wav files. All you need are direct
connect cables between the computer and K3.
I use N1MM for contesting, and KR1ST's AirLink Express for rag chewing
on RTTY and PSK. He supports the K3.
