I will throw my two cents in on this. Quite frankly, I do not see how a K2
got the reviews it did over the years. I put one together in July to do
something during lock down. After assembly, which was really a pleasure,
and in two or three weeks after, I noticed a disturbing pop when tuning
around
Thank you Dave for the explanation on the reflector. I know there are a lot
of K2 fans on here and I don't want to discourage anyone from a K2, nor do
I want to say the K2 is not a fantastic radio. It is, except when tuning
around strong signals.

happens with a strong CW station is that the s meter peaks then falls away
rapidly for the first few characters before settling down. Is this what you

I'm a long time builder/operator of an early K2 (s/n 377) and have
considered going for the K3/10.
I would use my SB220 occasionally for more power since I can get approx.
200 watts with 12 watts in.
The question I have is there a PA key line available from the basic K3?

I do not have the problem you are experiencing. My K3 works fine in split in
transmit with the sub receiver on.

Thanks to Jim (K9YC) and others for the info on your EQ settings. I'm curious
if you have to set all these back to "flat" for operating data modes that are
actually using SSB (like PSK & AFSK). Or are they bypassed when you change
main mode

left with a sea of "mush". I easily could read the first character or two
of the early callers but they were soon swallowed up by the "mush". It was
impossible to pick out an individual caller, even after
