I don't know how to fix your problem, but I do know that it ISN'T the
bootable flag. My bootable partition is hda3, which is Win98 (was, actually -
Win98 corrupted itself and I haven't bothered to fix it). My /boot is hda5,
which is NOT flagged bootable.

Just select +DIR from the playlist buttons and select the mount point of your
CD as the directory.

Default display is :0 and it is already in use when you try to start again.
You must pass arguments to startx like:
startx -- :1
will start a second X session on the second X VC (ctl-alt-f8).

What you need to do is specify to the X server which console (or
"display") it needs to start on.
You know that terminals 1-6 are for text mode, and when you start X from,
for example, terminal 1, it starts X on terminal 7 - you can Ctrl-Alt-F1

No, you don't. You onlu need a sound card to play audio CD's via your

playing, but there's no Linux/UNIX equivalent.

No, all the files in mounted FAT partitions belong to the user that
mounted the partition, all can read, but only he/she can write to
them.
Find
Windows directory structure doesn't support the permissions stuff, so all you
can do is set some global rule for the whole Windows partition.

Jimoh, I didn't realize that you're using supermount.
That line in your /etc/fstab file is not correct, it should be
like the one below:
/mnt/cdrom /mnt/cdrom supermount fs=iso9660,dev=/dev/cdrom
0 0
and of course the softlink /dev/cdrom should link to /dev/hdd

A fast question for you: did you delete any files from the "/tmp" directory?
Believe it or not, Mandrake puts a directory named ".X11-unix/" in tmp, and
this directory contains an ESSENTIAL system file. And this is not the end of
the story either. There is another ESSENTIAL directory and file in "

card as a SB Live! card and had a bunch of errors. I

I have two computers, a desktop (with Linux) and a notebook (without Linux).
Is it possible to connect the notebook to the desktop (via a serial port, for

Wadeyou found it, serial port 2. If you're running an
internal modem on ttys1 (com2) then com2 (serial port 2) needs
to be disabled in the system bios because there is a conflict
between the two devices (the modem and the built-in comm
[serial] port) without it being disabled.

I am trying to run gnupg with the gpgp gui front end in L-M7.0. When I
try to decrypt with gpgp I get the error message:
gpg: cannot open /dev/tty: Device not configured
Gnupg works fine in a term.
I cannot find any info on configuring /dev/tty. Can anyone assist?
