change in behaviour here, the entry for 'execute' in the properties
sheet simply read 'kedit' i changed this to 'kedit %f' as root and

As for your glibc, I'd try the direct-from-source compile.

Still working in this question I discovered that last Samba version already
export text files as windows-readable format.
So as some bugtrack basics says first of all update to last version and try
to reproduce the problem. ;)

to unix format so when you mount those partitions to be visible in Samba they are

the entire packaged deal this time) and when I ran XF86Setup to fine tune some
things, I get the message as follows;

I don't think it's so much that they stopped supporting 4-5 year old hardware
as it is they simply tightened up their standards a bit. It's the hardware
manufactures lack of attention to specific standards that causes problems like
this. They still support the older hardware.

Where did you get your kernel sources? Supermount is *not* part of the
