I've read this before and have seen this with Mandrake. I'm no expert but it makes my machine sluggish also. Very much so. RedHat 7.1 also has this process running. However it uses 0% CPU cycles. This is the main reason I'm using redhat now. I simply could not deal with the sluggishness.

g If you intend to install mdk 8.0 with an ext2 filesystem then use 2.2.14-BADZ2, otherwise if you intend to install mdk 8.0 with a reiserfs filesystem then use 2.2.19-BADZ5. In either case make a boot floppy with your choice of one of these files and use that floppy to boot your computer for the installation. Then remove the floppy and continue with the CD install. -- Alan
