Ultimately, all of these settings are stored with the score file. So once
you find settings you like, what you should do is open your *score*
templates (Maestro Font Default.ftm, for example), make the needed changes,
and then resave the template.

David,
I'm not sure this is what you're looking for, but I've found it to be a helpful,
time-saving process when extracting parts.
Once I'm done with the score, I Save As that file to create a part template. I delete
every staff except the top one, which contains all of the textual instructions

Sure -- you can make the output as large as you want, and the paper can be
whatever size your printer supports.

Dear Macintosh customer,
You have waited patiently for Finale 2004 and we need to ask you for just a
little more patience.
We have made tremendous progress over the past few weeks in readying Finale
2004 for Macintosh

I could do without the soundfonts or whatever they are called. And the
making of audio CDs. I just want the program to run and do music and
MIDI in OS X.
I hope there is COAL in all the Makemusic
Twice in the past week I have encountered a bug in which Undo simply stops
working and the Undo list stops getting updated (I have the Undo Levels set
to Unlimited). Closing and reopening Finale sets things right, though one
time Finale crashed upon closing. I can't really correlate it to
I, as a user, would like to see them get OS X happening and MIDI. All
that other crap, the making of CDs, the sound playback stuff could wait.
Just OS X, and Midi and the other features (like the new expression
thing) working. I think some of the fluff is delaying it.

My approach was to design my parts templates as seperate files first, then create libraries with those settings. When I'm ready to extract from the score, I save the file with a different name and load the library for the appropriate part template. Next, update page layout in page tool and the

To those that have now had OS X 10.3 running for a while: how is it?
Is it everything you had hoped? What are the drawbacks (if you can
think of any)? Has anybody tried out the OS-level keyboard shortcut
feature? How QuicKeys-like is that? Are you still required to use the

I can't imagine that the soundfonts and save as audio would be the
holdup--it seems like that kind of thing is very easy in OS X. I
wonder if Panther somehow threw it off...? In any case, can there be
any doubt that this migration wasn't ever well planned?

I've noticed that OS X 10.3 is faster. Classic mode printing from Finale

I'd recommend going to 10.3 without hesitation (actually, we're up to
10.3.1 right now)..
