I can guarantee that this is a Mashita (or Matsushita) because of the SR-8174 in there. That is the Mashita model number, where the dying LGs number is LG-8080B. You might have good luck with that drive (but no guarantee =) I think a 9.5mm height drive will be no problem because the drives are sec

Followed this thread with keen interest. My third DVD drive has packed up. I've located one - apparently refurbished by Apple, for £190 - whose numbers go "M5505" and "MKESR8171".
