Overall, the matching process works well for OFX/QFX most of the time with only

You can't do that, it will screw up your records. The only thing you can do
is start a new set of books with the initial balances being the current book's
balances.

You can remove the "X" on the tabs to prevent accidental closing. Under
Edit/Preference/Windows and the section labeled Tabs. Just click on box to
remove the check on "Show close on notebook tabs". Then you shouldn't be able
to close accidentally.

I hesitated to mention this as I thought maybe the keystroke would work, but
the QFX/OFX import seems to be missing from the menu in V5. There has been a
bug filed and the fix is promised for V5.1.
