We are having connectivity issues to our VAC servers, we are working on
it. Server servers should report "secure mode enabled, disconnected from
Steam3" when the "status" command is run if they will become secure once
the VAC servers come back online.

You should include "-beta swapbeta" on the command line if you see

We have released an update to Counter-Strike 1.6. Run the hldsupdatetool
to get this update. This update is optional but highly recommended.
The update prevents the "menuselect 10" exploit that would cause players
to randomly spawn around the map.
The server will become available at the same time as the client. The
install process is the same as any other Steam game server (using the
hldsupdatetool).

Because the maps and game logic is only designed to work for smaller
player numbers. The combinatorial nature of player interactions
(especially in the physics system) means CPU and memory requirements
grow exponentially as player numbers increase.

That packet trace is fine, it is just showing you that our firewall
drops ICMP packets (for security reasons). You get multiple entries with
the same IP as the traceroute program just keeps sending more ICMP
packets with longer ttl's that terminate at the same point.

This is a bug, and it is ONLY a display bug for that connect log line
(it doesn't impact ban checking as that happens when the UserID
Validated log line appears). We are working on a fix for the display
problem.

Those IP's are points to the directory service of Steam, which the
client uses to then get content servers (from another service called the
content server directory server). Changing those IP's will just prevent
your client from working.
