Further update... Fixtest OA27531 is available and I have tested this
and it works fine. It allows DUMP and RESTORE from z/OS.
IBM is still working on a fix to allow RETORE from a bad DUMP taken
previously.

Do we require a separate OSA for the Linux guest in the DMZ?
As I'm not a comm's guy, please keep it simple. Thanks in advance.

Hi Listers,
Is there a way to get FTP clients like Bluezone, WS-FTP etc to work with
z/VM users that use LOGONBY?

mucked around trying to get the sort order correct, without success.
Any ideas?

Is the format of the z/VM Allocation Map documented anywhere?
I can figure out some of it by comparing the output from DDR with what I
know is defined on the DASD. But some of it eludes me... curious minds
need to know.

seems that z/VM is telling Linux to reduce memory.
But is Linux taking any notice? How do I confirm that it is? I don't see
any corresponding reduction in memory usage using top in Linux, or PERFKIT

How much time are you giving it to shutdown?
Steve G.
SET SHUTDOWN 30/* Time reserved for VM shut down (sec)*/
SET SIGNAL SHUTDOWN 300/* Time for guest shut down (sec) */
When I use SCIF to look at the linux log after issuing SIGNAL SHUTDOWN
guestname, I see no shutdown
for SLES8.
... I will pursue this on the Linux-390 Listserver.

Indeed, as Kris mentions, our requirement to have an 8-character Load Par
m
is to control whether the SAPL screen is displayed or not.
All works OK now, after deleting all characters in the field and then
entering the 8-character string. It seems that there are blanks padding t
he
field and with
, but this requires 8 characters. The width of the box in which the
loadparm is entered appears to be long enough, but it does not allow entry
of more than 4 characters.
Thanks in advance.
