Thanks for the bolster-making instructions, Betty Ann!
I tried covering a roller with wool blanketing but never got it tight
enough. Now, I see I was doing it wrong. I was trying to wrap a piece of
wool the width of the roller. I see from your instructions that the strips
should be about 3.
It took several years to start all those projects, so don't expect to
finish them all this
year. Also, don't be afraid to cut off a project and put the 'done' part in
a sample box -- if you have a project that you just don't want to finish.
The main thing is to enjoy your lace. If it's not
Sue, your jacket is beautiful! I enjoyed seeing your other work as well.
Thanks for letting us have a look at your lace.

I just wanted to thank everyone who posted on and off list about the sea
grass pillows. It seems like everyone who owns one really likes theirs, so
I've ordered a 20 one.
I've finally gotten back to lacing (time off to do other crafts), and took a
mini class on leaves and tallies. My first 2
Okaay. I've been lacing long enough to want to invest in a better
pillow. I've been using ethafoam which are great for taking places since
they're so light, but I'd like to have a heavier pillow. S what is
the difference between a straw pillow and one stuffed with sea grass?
I use fishing line exclusively for spangling. I tie a knot, then very
carefully melt the ends with a cig. lighter. The knot is hardly noticable
and just slides right into the hole of either the bobbin for the bead. I've
been told that it's extremely hard to find the knot on my spangles. So far,
Beautiful gown Robyn. Hopefully, one day you can let us see a pic of that
gold lace. It looks so lovely on your gown.
At the last Ren fair I went to, there was an awesome bobbin lace dem. On a
table was a giant cookie pillow. On each of the 4 sides, were 4 of the court

Hi Daphne and welcome to Arachne. A lot of the spiders must be away from
their PC's. It's very quiet on the list right now. I hope, though, you'll
stay around, because they'll all be back and the list will be it's usual
busy self.

'Morning!
I received my Arachne Commeratives in the mail last Thursday. They are
beautiful. The paint and lettering was just perfect. I ordered a divider pin
(very elegantly shaped), the square (has my anniversary year), and 2 East
Midlands which are so pretty. I'm very, very pleased with the
Thanks Bev and Barbara for putting together a wonderful exchange. It was my
first exchange, and it was so rewarding.
The pictures were lovely! I'll send mine tomorrow (Tues). I just don't seem
to be able to stay on schedule the Holiday season.

My exchange card and ornament arrived this Saturday from Dagmar Steinbachova

Seasons Greetings,
My apologies to my card exchange partner. I had my wisdom teeth pulled and
haven't felt well. My card goes to the post office today at 4:00 pm. So
sorry!

I'll add my experiences to this subject. I've had mixed results.
Mostly I complain about UPS and Fedex, because they always leave packages on
my door step. I had a $700+ loom delivered to my back porch when I was at
home - the guy never knocked on my door. The box was crushed on one corner.
Greetings! I'm horribly behind on digests - didn't read them all week-end.
Thank you Tamara and others who offered ideas for decorating bobbins. It
just happens that I recently was gifted a pair of pyrographed bobbins from
an exchange partner. I was amazed at how tiny the design was and that I

I have really enjoyed hearing the reports from the Convention. Our guild
meeting was last night, so I got to see and handle some of the bobbins and
other goodies our members who went to the convention brought home with them.
They each had a treasure box full of give-away items -
Hi Jerri and All.
I do hope you'll continue to offer your knowledge to us Jerri. I'm all eyes

Greetings,
Still being fairly new to lace making (mostly because I don't have lots of
time,) I've done lots of experimenting since my post about hitches.
I began winding my bobbins with the return row wound at an angle. Tamara and
Alice hit it right on, anyway that worked for me. I stopped the

Greetings All,
I want to thank everyone who so kindly responded to my post (both on and off
list) about which bobbins to use for milanese. I've gone to lots of sites to
look at pictures as well.
I got some really good suggestions, and as I suspected with a list this
size, folks are using

About correct pronunciations, and this is just MO.
I lived in San Antonio, TX for 10 years (I'm a Yankee). The population of
San Antonio is predominently Hispanic. It didn't take me long to learn that
Anglicising Spanish words particularly names was considered disrespectful.
Greetings All,
I'm behind on digests, so I'm hoping I'm not saying what's already been
said, if so, please forgive.
Because cross stitch fabric is loosely woven, it's a very unstable fabric.
Cross stitches stabilize the fabric, but I wouldn't trust cross stitch

Hi Spidees,
Coming out of lurksville for a few minutes. My first Brugge flower is well

Hi Spidees,
I'm working on a Bruges flower pattern for a square pin cusion. I'm still
new to sewings, and I sure need the practice! I'm so grateful to Sondra
(a guild member) who invited me to a class so she could teach me sewings. I
have my magnifying glass and my teeny peeny latch hook.
Hello Aracne's,
So sorry to take so long to post my Thank You's to everyone who responded

Hello Arachne's,
In my thirst for lace knowedge, I've been reading the histories of lace and
have seen mentioned in several places (web sites and books) the pattern book
Le Pompe. I've seen a few patterns here and there, but not translated into
anything that really looks like today's patterns
Hello Lovely Spiders,
Wl, being new, I'm totally confused about how to refer to
tapes and braides. I'm learning from various books, some have already
been mentioned. The Bruges book calls them one thing, the Milanese book
calls them something else. Then throw the different
Hi All,
For anyone living in Nebraska USA, the Antiques Roadshow will be in Omaha
the week-end of July 10.
I work for PBS so can't take items for the show unless I am a volunteer for
the event. I volunteered myself and DH. Woohooo! I imagine we'll be really
busy, but hope to see all those
Hi Lacers,
I'm going to put my newby 1 cent in (too new for 2 cents worth) regarding
the square bobbin preference.
I had no idea which bobbins to buy, so I bought what I liked the looks of.
Well, I've had time to try them all out, because most of the exercises I've
done required more than 1 dz
Hello Folks,
Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome to the list, to those who emailed me

Hello to All,
I've been lurking for a couple of weeks now, and thought it was time to
introduce myself. I'm Mary. I live in Nebraska the center-most state of the

I was following the thread this a.m. about the methods of using bobbins. I
was pretty confused about that, and
