transmitted the search query, Ancestry performed the search, and I got

With Legacy closed, go to the Legacy folder on your hard drive. Delete the
iSearch folder and the iSearch.usr file. Then go back into Legacy - the
file and folder will be recreated and the search string should be there.

Always do a backup before you delete, especially when the registry is
concerned. Just a FYI for later. There are some registry values that can
really mess up your computer if you aren't aware of what is being deleted
and the consequences of deleting it.
