It sounds like the way you set it up should work.
It should work simply by setting X_MODE_0 = 1600x1200 though.
You might go into that XF86Config.ws001 file and grab the modeline
that is there for 1600x1200, and specify that for X_MODE_0.
I run 1800x1440, and this is how I do it:

image on the site I posted before you will notice that everything gets
loaded to memory. I don't even have any of it compressed on the disk and

The server is only a K6-2 500mhz with 128 meg, so it won't win any races

It seems that your trouble is with the differences between LTSP 3 and
the version you were using before. At the point you see the faiure, you
are having a problem with XFree86 (4.2.99?) being unconfigured for your
video or mouse. Please triplecheck your lts.conf to see how the
"X_SERVER" options

You should normally go for "Reply-to-all" - the netiquette theory is that
you may only want to reply to the user, rather than the list. Also, if you
only reply to the list, archive users would not get "real-time" answers.
