Terrence, It sounds like the way you set it up should work. It should work simply by setting X_MODE_0 = 1600x1200 though. You might go into that XF86Config.ws001 file and grab the modeline that is there for 1600x1200, and specify that for X_MODE_0. I run 1800x1440, and this is how I do it: X
