With time machine, you aren't restoring the actual operating system, you are just moving over your applications, data, and user settings, just as it was on your previous machine. It needs to be said though you need to have a deticated drive, about 1tb in size or 500gb for the images of time

Hi Donna, The reason that the Migration Assistant does not like you having the same name is for data security purposes. The easiest thing to do here is to simply make sure that the name on the MBA is slightly different the original one. For example, use just Donna instead of your full name.
