Hello Donna,
Although I use Braille sometimes, I frequently use speech by itself. That is
why I am looking for a way to read continuously, using the iPhone voice,
without having to constantly manually advance through a book's pages.
Take care, and thanks for your input,
Mike

Anyone know if that list is still around?
Cheers,

The AI Squared group recently released a version of ZoomText for the Macintosh.
I have not seen much about it but I did use ZoomText on other platforms for
several years with IDE's, so it is very probabable that it could help you on
the Macintosh side.
When I used it for code development, I use

Hello all,
I am trying to advocate for student who is having difficulty getting rehab
services to purchase a Mac for her. I would be interested in hearing from those
of you who have gotten rehab to purchase a Mac. How did you go about convincing
them to do that?

Of course as you know justification is a big thing for rehab. Is this

Yes, I was just wondering, which is better to use, transmit, or cute FTP? I am
trying both of them, but can't seem to find how to get the list of sites in the
cute FTP one. Are there any tutorials or anything on Cute FTP

Hello Mike,
Have you looked into using the Voice Dream Reader app? This app does not have
the same level of navigation options that the Read2Go app has, so you'll
probably still want to do most of your Bookshare reading with Read2Go.
However, Voice Dream Reader has some features that I believ
Good afternoon, I have an interesting accessibility problem. I have a document
that reads very well in TextEdit. But the document that I am being easily on a
computer, has to be converted into an audio form format? So my question to the
group is what he is the best way to achieve that? I have tw
Why don't you just highlight all the text, press control option shift M, and
choose add to ITunes as a spoken track? Then you can just burn the resultant
audio to a CD.

Another possible way to do this assumes that you have quoted text in the reply.
If you do, reply to a message, find the sender's email address in the body of
the message, copy it, delete the list address in the "to" field, and paste in
the address you copied.

If you uses TextEdit and convert the document to plain text does it read
reasonably well? If so then you can use terminal to generate an AIFF
file of the audio. So if I save the document as important_stuff.txt then
in terminal I would do
say < important_stuff.txt -o important_stuff.aiff

Or you can do what Erik suggest, which sounds a lot easier than my
solution, unless you wanted to embed some directives in the doc. Hmm,
maybe those directives would still be honored by the add to iTunes
process. Here is one of the early emails which talks about using the say
command and embedd
Hi, I think you can actually set a few arguments in the add to ITunes as a
spoken track service. The only one you seem to be able to do within dictation
and speech is the default voice and the speech rate.

I haven't done so myself, but it is possible.
The 2 justifications that can be used are:
1. lower cost of ownership (as accessibility is included)
2. Greater included feature set for the cost involved (built in camera,

Hi there
Although the cost may be a good justification to rehab, I think the second
option of the employer wanting training and use of Apple products is an even
better argument in this case. You might want to also get the employer on this
as well, if it's possible. What they say means a lot.

Hi Erik,
Thanks for this. Unfortunately I live in the rural backwater that is southern

warehouse, so even if the mac cost $5 it would be more e
Thank you, Gigi. I'm not sure much of this will carry much weight, for the
reasons I just explained. but I'll try and get them to talk to Texas. Someday

The counter argument to this is that those PCs are out of date, and the copies
