Hi Ed, Curt,
FWIW, I run a social services agency in CT. For the last couple of years,
we have operated a small, but fairly successful car donation fund-raising
program (200-300 cars).
We have had a number of Mercedes donated, including a very interesting 1983

Hi RLE,
Not to put too fine a point on this, Fred was indeed referring to the
ugly duckling Daimler Dart SP250.
Gerry, however, (see below) was referring to the Daimler 250 V8 with the
NOTAJAG plate that
he saw in the hardware store parking lot. Although I did address the email to

Hi Fred and Gerry,
I believe the car you saw was the Daimler 250 V8, basically a tarted up version
of the Jaguar Mark II (fancier fluting on the chrome, etc).
That car had the same Hemi V8 that Daimler put in the SP250. Jaguar bought
Daimler in the early 60's, and eventually deep-sixed

Hi Ralph,
My 1975 300D developed a serious knock a few years ago after I demonstrated
'hard acceleration in a diesel', by downshifting up a hill. As I crested the
hill, I heard this awful knock. I drove it directly home and parked it.
I had several consultations with friends, all of whom
eat information!! Thanks to all, and specially Tom. What is the
name of your organization?

Hi,
I run a a 501 (c) 3 charitable organization, and we have been operating a car
donation fund raising program for the past couple of years. My agency is a
small residential facility for adolescent males in Ct. We have probably
processed over 200 cars in that time.
The IRS rules changed i

Sorry to be the bearer of sad tidings below, but just a little reminder in

Dear List,
My 1975 300D 115 chassis is using a lot of oil. I bought the car in 2000
from a guy who who had rebuilt the engine after 'spinning a bearing', but he
could never get it to start. I took it to two shops, both of whom gave up
on it as a hopeless. However, I checked it myself and I
