Curt,
I'll now have to get into my garage attic and take apart my spare assembly.
However, I have one concern. Your fog light doesn't look very "yellow". Mine
are a deep amber/yellow color, far more so than what yours looks, at least in
your picture. Does the front of your bulb / glass assembly
ody got pics of sealed beam fog lights?

Well guysI just went and looked at my fog lights on my 83 300D. The fog
bulbs appear to be sealed beam just like the hi/lo headlights in the fitting
beside them. The fog bulbs have "Bosch Germany" embossed in the glass in the
middle of them. The fixtures that the bulbs sit in have Bosch stic

Mitch,
I purchased my 1983 300D from the grandson of the original owner who lived in
South Carolina. It has the original headlight/fog light assemblies. I have
replaced a couple of hi/lo beam headlights, but the yellow fog lights are still
original as they rarely get used. They have the same re

Good point. There's rarely a need for fog lights, so how would you ever wear one
out?
With that in mind, why is it that you never seem

Curt,
Just called the FLAPS manager and explained the problem. He checked and
said I had been sold replacement bulbs for mounted "driving lights"
instead of the correct ones which are sealed beam. My '83 240D also has
sealed beams. I don't understand why you would have bulb in housing

It looks like he wants to sell the whole assembly but the bulb is not sealed
into the lens.

Curt / Gerry,
Not sure how you're meaning "sealed beam". My 1983 300D has yellow fog lights
that look just like the dual beam headlight, only they are yellow for fog.
There is no removable bulb, etc. in them, just what I'd call a "sealed beam"
unit. I see them occasionally on eBay for sale and
i had to replace a fog light in our '85, and it was a sealed beam. i'm
fairly certain it was a plug-in deal.
quotes for replacements were rather high a few years ago, and i
heard a story about how there was something used in the manufacture of
them that had since been qualified as a "hazar
Gerry,
I've never seen a 123 with sealed beam fog lights. All of them were bulb in
housing. I've had 3 personally ('78 240D, '81 300TD and '83 240D) plus Dwight's
300CD and the '82 240D I took parts from in a junkyard.
Are your existing lights yellow or clear? I wonder if somebody subbed in
