I was wondering if someone can help me? I remember reading about a book that
was written to help teachers who are using best practices to suppor their
professional decisions with research. Does anyone know what this book is
called?
Thanks,

I teach third grade and only use peer conferencing to revise, and that is after
a lot of modeling. I find that third graders need more support with editing,
but they can politely offer suggestions for revision.

Words Their Way is a developmental phonics, spelling and vocabulary program, so
you are already teaching phonics. Why would you explicitly teach more phonics
in grades 3-5? Phonics is taught in grades K-2. Are the students below level
in reading?
Thank you,

Hi, I' m not sure what state you're in, but in CA we have 4 genres we teach to
the 4th graders so they'll be ready for the state test. They are summary of
narrative, summary of expository, response to lit, and narrative. Starting
with the first genre, I read a picture book, say "Nothing Ever

Great conversation. I also read the article, but now I need to find resources
for elementary age students. I agree that I remember history more when it's
told as a narrative. With that said, do any of you know of narrative
nonfiction for 4th graders?

My class has learned so much from "Circuit". It's the true story of a migrant
