Has anyone managed to use an Alcatel SpeedTouch USB ADSL modem as a shared
internet connection for several machines? If so, your ideas would be very
welcome.

Hi all,
I am three weeks into using Linux after using only Macintosh
for the past 10 years. I had a computer store install Redhat 7.1.

A lot of people have found that doing a fresh install of a later version
of Mandrake tends to save a lot of system stabillity issues. If you
made a seperate /home partition, you should be able to safely format all
of your other partitions and still retain most of your personal
information and set

Hi,
I don't know what I am doing different, but I have an nVidia GeForce II on
an card made by Asus (I think it is the V7700), and I have ABSOLUTELY no
problems with it; in fact, I followed the directions that I found on
nVidia's page, and on MUO, and voila, fait accompli! I have nice gfx, can

So, with all the discussion about nVidia cards, what is a good card to
run? I am going to upgrade cause my little 4mb ATI Rage doesn't even get
tux down the hill. I want a midrange card in the $60 to $100 range. Is
there any hope? TIA for any suggestions.

Does that relate to TNT and TNT2 cards? one of my boxes here has a TNT2 32M
card.. and I wanted to know if I can use it for trying 3d stuff...
I know I had it working ages ago, but that was on the default mdk7.2
kernel...
How well are sys vid cards supported?
I have an AGP card here that has TV

Thanks! That actually made sense! I'm 2 for 2! Last question,...Where do
I

Well you need to register your domain with the Internic (aka Network
Solutions) or some other such agency. Then you register your Network
IP's with them as well
I've been toying with the idea of installing 8.1, but I don't have an
available testbed right now. My workstation is too important,
especially now, for me to install the beta, and my two other testbeds
are in use right now.
But I did find a page that had some links to NTP servers.

Your own research. Arguing what's best is right up there with
religion and politics ;> Even worse, what's 'best' hardware is a fast
moving target, and getting faster.
Does anybody know where to find a list of other NTP servers? I used to
know a few of them off the top of my head, and now I don't remember
their names any more.

Can it be rebuilt for 7.2? (since mdk8 can use 2.2.19, which is what I am

hmmm, both those commands insisted on being run as root before they would do
anything on my system. Connecting as root is a Bad Idea (tm).

We've had some discussion about mobos and chipsets over the last couple
of months.
I'm looking at a new box and am considering these two configurations
from Cyclox Computers (www.cyclox.com)
Both are AMD Socket A boards with 266 mhz FSB, ATX form factor.
