I am trying to dl Knoppix so I can try it on a laptop we have.
However, it gets to about 20 secs left to go then tells me that there
is not enough disk space left. I am dl it to my home directory which
is 19gigs (mostly free), the file is only 650megs.

I read (here i think) that you can turn off the module check, too, if
you aren't changing anything.
In MandrakeControlCentreSystemServices disable harddrake and auto
kernel headers. That will speed up booting (obviously if your hardware
is going to change you want harddrake on first or else
Here is another cool thing: you can have the prompt set the title of the
xterm for you.
This way, in the taskbar i see the path 1st, so when there's a bunch of
them open, i know which is which.

icon clicking). There is no edit box for typing. However, I've clicked

Lindows installed. I have the Mandrake 9.0
as well, but it is not installed at the moment. Having gotten a number of
viruses from the Newbie list, I am surprised because I thought Linux was pretty
much impervious to viruses. I don't know which of the above programs can be used

I just chose 8081 cuz it's different than the default (8080 i think)

Been intending to look at rox ever since you first mentioned it to me,
months ago. When I tried it tonight, though, there were quite a few
packages that it wanted to uninstall first.
Do you have IceWM installed? Were the probs with the gtk packages?
I always had that problem. Evidentily
