Well son of a gun, somebody forgot to tell my computer that, cause it is using the new kernel and it does boot from lilo and the old kernel is, yes, gone. So until I have problems with what's up and running I will leave it alone

point is that if it doesn't, you no longer have a bootable kernel.. and thats

why install is preferred, because you won't hose your install by destrying you
Package Manager works just fine. BUT: After upgrading a kernel, you need
to go in and fix /boot. Package Managere doesn't do that, and it will
leave you pretty much broken.
Once you've fixed /boot, check /etc/lilo.conf for validity, and then run
lilo to set the changes. Your next reboot

root and enter urpmi kernel. Its the CLI end to the Software Manager
