If you make a change to LILO be sure to run /sbin/lilo at the root prompt
to effect the change.
I have noticed making changes using the control center does not always
update LILO.

I just wanted to send a little thanks to the Mandrakesoft team. I bought a
new SB Live card today and booted Linux turned Kudzu back on and then removed
my old soundcard booted Linux and Kudzu instaled the card flawlessly.

I managed to get KDE 2.2 installed and operative. I followed Civilime's
advice and did urpme kde followed with,
cd directory of kde rpm's
rpm -ivh *.rpm
Ran into numerous dependencies, eliminated the KDE rpm's I didn't want
causing dep. issues then ran rpm -ivh *.rpm and looked at the deps.
the standard rpm kdesdk-devel-2.2-1mdk.i586.rpm
I read through the archives and came across roughly three different methods
of installing using rpm commands. Given my newbie status what would be least
painful? I am not sure I like the idea of --nodeps.

I am at a loss with installing (copying) the .jar files to
KDE/share/apps/kjava to enable java scripting support with the Sun jsse. I
open the kde directory in my home directory but I do not have a kjava dir.

My opinion of Mandrake 7.1 is that alot of the applications/services are
just to buggy and not thoroughly tested before release. I would suggest if
you like Mandrake to get a copy of 7.02 and alot of problems will go away.
Perhaps 7.2 will address these bugs without creating even more.
