I have both of these lenses. I have not done a formal comparison, but can
offer some observations:
-the 24mm FA /2.0 is very large.
-the 24mm /2.8 is a normal size lens.

-the /2.8 is a bit smoother to manually focus

One more thing. When I ordered my SMC 24mm f/2.8 wide-angle
from KEH, I noticed the following item for $9.00 (EX condition):
PENTAX - 28 F3.5 TAKUMAR METAL PUSH-ON
On Boz's K-mount page, under "lens hood" for the SMC 28mm f/3.5
it says:

Pentax SMC filters are printed with "SMC". HOYA have 2 types of multicoated
filters - HMC and HMC Super. The latter is hardcoated on both sides for
better duriability. I have used HOYA HMC and Pentax SMC only, not the HMC
Super. HMC is difficult to clean and cleaning marks are impossible to avo
I just picked up an old POLYCO light meter(Made in Japan) from my favourite
junk store for $10CDN.
Tomorrow, I hope to test it with a grey card and my SP-F spotmeter.
Does anyone know this model (Probable it is from the late 50's/early 60's.
Looks like one my uncle had in 63? It is only a stopga
The FA*24/2.0 is an extraordinary lens. It *is* big; I sometimes wish I'd lept a

Just go to B&H or Adorama and do a search on "slave" and you'll get tons of
stuff. I think Wein (Wien?) and some other companies make little gizmos
that will turn some flashes into slaves.
Also, Bojidar Dmitrov's k-mount equip. page has lots of Pentax flash info,
including tables of what's necess

I've heard (read) over and over that the 40/2.8 is an overpriced mutt, but
I've never seen any photos attributed to it that make me say "Ick". Anyone
know how it got such a lousy reputation?
