The K10D is my primary body but I still us my *istD when I want something small
and compact. It's also my low-light body since the K10D only goes up to iso
1600. Sometimes that extra stop comes in handy.
So even though it's mostly a backup, the *istD still sees regular use.

I've overall been satisfied with the results. It's the default lens on
the camera, for those times one doesn't know what to expect. It's not
a highly rated lens by all accounts, but I'm not sure any with this

That's the right attitude. And I didn't mean to say is was superceded yet.
My bet is that Pentax will release one more 'K-5 like' camera before
it goes full frame.
If that should happen, the K-5 will still be a great value.

Tim Bray was kind enough to sell me his *istD recently.
My intentions are to remove the hot mirror and replace it with a 850nm
IR filter glass, which will make it a full time BW IR camera (but
with a bright image in the viewfinder).
