Just beware that the S-HMC CPL does not have front thread, only the Pro1
does (also S-HMC, but thinner rim). Pro1 UV is S-HMC with thinner glass and
3mm rim, you might save quite a bit but using the S-HMC UV which has 5mm rim

while modern F/FA lenses have very light grease. The aperture rings of
LIMITED lenses have almost no grease. I have got some NYE grease from Fargo
and found them very stable with excellent lubrication, but might be a little
expensive if you need very little. Btw, oil should not be used.

The retractable flash on my Zx-5n seems to have lost it's spring. It pops

soaped cotton pad (those found in drug stores) and wipe the wet screen
lightly in one direction several times. Frush the screen with tap water then

I used the nikkor 55/2.8 macro for a little while for some macro and found
the viewfinder rather hard to use. Call it psychosomatic, but I didn't like

I suspect the use of SD for the DS is a technical one. Maybe they were

I used to have these for 35mm cameras. The shoe for the tripod part is okay,
but the release plate for 35mm didn't work well for vertical position at
all. You will be much better off with Arca style plates from Kirk RRS. And
the design of the plate itself is not quite convincing.

You can use a product called DeoxIT www.caig.com which can remove and
prevent the rust. I recommend the 100% solution for the job. It is best if
you can remove the mount so you might soak the rust with this solution
multi-times for best result.

Depending on the location of the screw, one can often pop it loose
I think for tiny size like 1.4mm is pretty much interchangeable. I used to
have a Wiha small philips which fits well for 1.4mm cross point screws. For
bigger size or tight screws (lens mount screws etc), the fit is important.

what I have seen so far, regular B+W filters are as thick as any filters can
get. Regular Pentax filters are slightly thinner than regular HOYA, and I

IMHO, FA*85/1.4 is great for portrait, and only. I used it for scenery, and

Who knows. According to the Pentax boss Pentax have decided to market IS in
one form or another. This was a couple of years ago
Don't clean it, you will destory it and end up buying another screen. Just
unclip the metal clip, remove the screen and blow off the dust.
