I use a fine tip Sharpie permanent marker to write on plastic mounts. I've always preferred plastic but never enough to get unduly concerned about it. Now, though, I'm going to prefer plastic because they're easier to pry open when I need to see what f-stop and shutter speed my MZ-S has imprinted
