Hi again Gang:
there's a card that can be unplugged that sits directly on the 1400
motherboard, between the RAM slots and the CPU. Does anyone know what this
card is for?
Thanks

After FINALLY getting the worn screw removed from the bottom of the PB3400,
I put in the original hard drive and everything was fine. But then I decided

The 3400 don't have SCSI hard drives or CD-ROMs. There was some mention last week on
this list I believe about cleaning the drive but as you've already surmised, it might
be a hardware problem.

As Tom already pointed out, the CD-ROM drive on the 3400 is IDE, not
SCSI. It _should_ have ID=0 (which resolves to something like ATA
Bus 1, Device 0) in the Apple System Profiler.
The 3400 has two IDE controllers; one is for the internal hard drive,
one is for expansion bay devices. It

Be sure you don't have any Apple Airport software installed. That would
defeat the Orinoco software.
For what it's worth, my G3 PowerBook running OS 9.2.2, using AirPort

other words I'm not using Orinoco's software.
