Ed:
Thanks for your reply. Yes the XP machine insists on being the Master Browser.
I don't know how to "humble" the machine, it wants to be boss cluck, if
you know what I mean. How do I calm it down? I have set associated priorities,
such as these, high in the Linux Samba file smb.conf s
I have a network of Win95 and Linux machines. Every machine has shares
and all machines can access the shares of all other machines. There is
one exception. I recently obtained (with dual boot objectives for
Linux and XP Pro) a new addition for video and sound editing purposes.
But I cann

Well I think I've got part of my answer.
See attached file.

For using mod_perl as a CGI replacement, the recommended
configuration is as follows:

With a lot of help I've now arrived at a detailed procedure that builds
from sources Apache, mod_perl, PHP( which can access the PostgresSQL and
MySQL databases), as well as the database themselves (Server, Client,
and Development). The tar files from the RH6.2 rpm source files were
used (except

Richard asked for the questions to be broken up. This is the FIRST
question from [RH-list-1].
Because the question refers to the Postgresql web site it may be
consider [OT]. I wasn't sure.
I was looking at the RedHat 6.0 full installation I have on one of my
network machines and this ended up
Am resending this as I got no response from the list the first time.
It seems that most of the list that uses a database seems to prefer
MySQL yet the Red Hat distribution provides Postgresql. I know I'll get
a response if I say the following: "Red Hat knows that Postgresql is a
superior database
Does anyone know the version of Postgresql for Red Hat 6.2?

When getting ready to install Postgresql (using RPM on Slackware) I
looked at the RedHat 6.0 full installation I have on another machine.
This ended up in a number of questions about RedHat and Postgres. To
start with, I noticed 3 RPM packages (for the full installation). On
the Postgres web si

I posted the following on the apache-list (that is where it belongs but
the list is not very active yet)
If there is anyone on this list that is an Apache expert but is not on
the apache list could you please get in touch with me. Unless you are
knowledgeable with Apache, Perl, PHP don't waste yo
